Yes you can. If they ask if your passport is near to expiry then explain youre going to immediately renew it. Renewing a passport that contains a valid visa isnt an issue but you need to carry both passports for travel because they will wanna see the visa at the airport. You should have done it before the appointment really you should always renew prior to getting any long term visa. If this question is before the biometric appointment and you have time to renew it then do so but it shouldnt be a problem. America allows use of expired passports and near expired passports and most countries do unless Canada explicitly says you cant do this it should be fine.
